Please download and install all of the following programs and files

1.Slicing softwares

There are several slicing softwares available but here are two options

1.1First option is Cura

  • Cura is an open source slicing software by Ultimaker

  • If you're going to use Cura to generate a Gcode, make sure you install it on your PC:

    • Clicke here to be redirected to Cura’s download page (we used version 15.04.2 in our videos because it’s easy to learn )

    • Watch our video tutorial that shows you how to add your existing 3D printer in Cura

      • Make sure to ask your existing 3D printer’s vendor to provide you with the correct printing parameters known as the *.ini files

1.2Second option is Kiri Moto

  • Kiri Moto is an online slicing software

    • This option requires a 'Reprapdiscount Smart Controller' which must be purchased separately (see the assembly videos for installation)

    • You can generate the Gcode by Kiri Moto and print directly via an SD card

2.Autodesk Fusion 360

  • Autodesk fusion 360 is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) 3D modeling program

  • Free 3-year education license for students, teachers and educators. Available for Mac and PC

  • Click on Autodesk to subscribe

 

3.Arduino IDE

  • The Arduino Integrated Development Environment - or (IDE) is an open source text editor for writing code. It makes it easy to open, modify, compile and upload the Marlin firmware (3D printing program) into the mini rambo microcontroller

      • Important notice: please make sure to download the Arduino IDE software and not the Arduino web editor app

    • Click on Plugin to be redirected to the Rambo Arduino plugin page (you need to add the Rambo plugin into Arduino)

4.Mini Rambo driver

  • The mini Rambo driver is a piece of software that converts the data to be printed to the form specific to the mini Rambo microcontroller.

      • Later on in the project when you connect to the printer make sure to see the mini rambo microcontroller under Ports (COM & LPT) in device manager if not:

        • uninstall and reinstall the driver

5.Pronterface (printrun)

  • Pronterface (printrun) is an open source human-computer interface host (GUI) for 3D printers

    • Click on Pronterface to be redirected to their web page and then click on download
