Please download and install all of the following programs and files

1.Slicing programs

There are many slicing programs out there that convert digital 3D models into printing instructions for your printer to create a 3D object. We picked CURA and Kiri Moto

1.1 CURA (printing with a PC via a USB cable)

  • Cura is an open source slicing program by Ultimaker

  • Installing CURA on your PC

    • Clicke here to download CURA (we used version 15.04.2 in our videos because it’s easy to learn )

    • Watch our video tutorial to install and setup CURA

    • Watch our video tutorial to add your existing 3D printer in CURA

      • Ask your vendor to provide the *.ini files of your existing 3D printer

1.2 Kiri Moto (printing without a PC via a Reprapdicount smart controller and an SD card)

  • Kiri Moto is a free online slicing program that doesn’t need to be installed on your PC

    • This option requires a Reprapdiscount smart controller which can be purchased separately online (see the assembly videos for installation)

    • You can generate the Gcode by Kiri Moto, save it on an SD card and print directly from the Reprapdiscount Smart controller

      • Click here to watch a video tutorial that shows you how to setup and use Kiri Moto

2.Autodesk Fusion 360

  • Autodesk fusion 360 is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) 3D modeling program

  • Free 3-year education license for students, teachers and educators. Available for Mac and PC

  • Click on Autodesk to subscribe

3.Arduino IDE

  • The Arduino Integrated Development Environment - or (IDE) is an open source text editor for writing code. It makes it easy to open, modify, compile and upload the Marlin firmware (3D printing program) into the mini rambo microcontroller

    • Click here to be redirected to the Arduino IDE download page

      • Important notice: please make sure to download the Arduino IDE software and not the Arduino web editor app

    • Click on Plugin to be redirected to the Rambo Arduino plugin page (you need to add the Rambo plugin into Arduino)

    • Watch our video tutorial that shows you how to install Arduino IDE and add the Rambo Arduino plugin

4.Mini Rambo driver

  • The mini Rambo driver is a piece of software that converts the data to be printed to the form specific to the mini Rambo microcontroller.

    • Click here to be redirected to the driver's web page

      • Later on in the project when you connect to the printer make sure to see the mini rambo microcontroller under Ports (COM & LPT) in device manager if not:

        • uninstall and reinstall the driver

    • Watch our video tutorial that shows you how to install the driver

5.Pronterface (printrun)

  • Pronterface (printrun) is an open source human-computer interface host (GUI) for 3D printers

    • Click on Pronterface to be redirected to their web page and then click on download

    • Watch our video tutorial that shows you how to download and install Pronterface (printrun)
